PART 01

Chimney cap

A chimney cap is a protective covering at the top of your chimney that keeps rain, debris, and animals out.

  • Can become rusted or damaged by weather
  • May become clogged with leaves or debris
  • Can be dislodged during strong winds
→ Chimney Cap Installation

PART 02

Crown

The chimney crown is a concrete slab that covers and seals the top of the chimney to prevent water intrusion.

  • Cracks due to weather exposure
  • Deterioration from freeze-thaw cycles
  • Poor construction or materials can lead to leaks
→ Chimney Repair

PART 03

Flashing

Flashing is a metal barrier that prevents water from seeping between the chimney and roof.

  • Can rust or corrode over time
  • Become loose or detached in high winds
  • Improper installation can lead to leaks
→ Chimney Repair

PART 04

Brick and mortar

The masonry consists of the bricks and mortar that form the visible structure of the chimney.

  • Mortar joints can crack or deteriorate
  • Bricks may spall or chip due to moisture
  • Shifting foundations can cause structural issues
→ Masonry Repointing

PART 05

Flue liner

A flue liner helps contain combustion products and protects the chimney walls from heat and corrosion.

  • Cracks or gaps can develop over time
  • Can be damaged by chimney fires
  • Improper sizing can affect draft
→ Chimney Relining

PART 06

Smoke chamber

The smoke chamber is the area above the firebox that funnels smoke into the flue.

  • Creosote buildup restricts smoke flow
  • Uneven walls can disrupt draft
  • Cracks can lead to leaks
→ Creosote Removal

PART 07

Damper

A damper regulates airflow and prevents heat loss when the fireplace is not in use.

  • May rust or seize shut
  • Can be damaged by intense heat
  • Improper sealing can lead to drafts
→ Chimney Inspection

PART 08

Firebox

The firebox is the section of the fireplace where the fire burns.

  • Bricks or panels can crack from heat
